ललितपुरको चापागाउँमा प्रसिद्ध वज्र वाराहीको मन्दिर छ । सानो जंगलको बीचमा रहेको वज्र वाराहीको मन्दिर नेपाली तले शैलीको छ, दुई तहको छानायुक्त । तर वज्र वाराहीको छानामा गजुर राख्न हुन्न भन्ने मान्यता अनुसार त्यस मन्दिरको छानामा गजुर राखिएको छैन । पहिलो तहमा टायल्स र दोस्रो तहमा धातुको छाना रहेको यो मन्दिर निर्माणमा काठका आकर्षक तोरण र टुँडालहरू प्रयोग गरिएका छन् । मन्दिरभित्र पुजिने देवी वज्र वाराही हुन् । यो वाराहीको तान्त्रिक मन्दिर हो, जहाँ तान्त्रिक विधिले पूजाआजा हुने गर्दछ । जंगलको बीचमा रहेको यो मन्दिरअगाडि दुइटा ठूला सिंहका मूर्ति छन्, मन्दिरको सुरक्षार्थ बसेजस्ता । वज्र वाराही अष्टभैरवकी शक्ति र मातृका देवी मानिन्छिन् । यस भेगमा मातृकाको पूजा गर्ने परम्परा निकै पुरानो हो । तसर्थ वज्र वाराहीको स्थापना धेरै पहिले भएको हुन सक्तछ । तर अहिलेको मन्दिर भने इसाको सत्रौं शताब्दीतिर बनेको मानिन्छ ।

 

The temple of Vajra Barahi, the tantric goddess, is located in a small forest at Chapagaun in Lalitpur. It is a Nepalese style temple with two roofs, the first made of tiles and the second of thatch and metal plates. The toranas and struts used in the construction of the temple are of great artistic value, as are the stone effigies of the two lions that are said to be the guardians of the temple. Vajra Barahi is considered to be the consort of Asta Bhairav. She is also worshipped as a Matrika. As the tradition of worshipping Matrikas goes back to ancient times, it would not be unreasonable to assume that the temple is similarly old, even though the present structure was only constructed in the 17th Century AD.
