ललितपुरको बोडेगाउँदेखि करिब तीन किलोमिटर पश्चिममा प्रसिद्ध सन्तानेश्वर महादेवको मन्दिर छ । यो मन्दिर डाँडाको टुप्पामा छ । सन्तान प्रदान गर्ने देवताका रूपमा यिनलाई सन्तानेश्वर भनिएको हो । मध्यकालतिर बनेको मानिने यो मन्दिर विभिन्न समयमा जीर्णोद्धार भएर वर्तमानको स्वरूपमा आइपुगेको हो । सन्तानेश्वरको पूजाआजाबाट निःसन्तानले सन्तान प्राप्त गर्न सक्ने जनविश्वास छ । छोराको कामना गर्नेले पनि यिनको पूजाआजा गरी छोरा पाउने वर माग्दछन् । यसरी सन्तानेश्वर महादेव सन्तान प्रदान गर्ने र तिनीहरूको रक्षा गर्ने देवता मानिन्छन् । सन्तानेश्वर शिवालय निकै भव्य नेपाली तले शैलीमा निर्मित छ । मन्दिरमा सादा शिवलिंगको पूजाआजा हुन्छ । मन्दिर परिसरमा गणेश, कुमार र नन्दी लगायतका देवीदेवताका मूर्तिहरू समेत प्रशस्तै छन् । शिवरात्रि, बालाचतुदर्शी र तीजका अवसरमा र साउन महिनामा मन्दिर क्षेत्रमा भीड लाग्ने गर्दछ ।
The temple of Santaneshwor Mahadev is located near Bodegaun of Lalitpur and the deity of the temple is so named because he is believed to be a god of fertility and child-bearing. It is believed that childless people who worship the deity will soon be blessed with children. The Santaneshwor Temple was built during the medieval era, although the present structure is of later construction. It is a beautiful temple adorned with fine artefacts, and the primary object of worship is a Shivalinga, although images of Ganesh, Kumar, and Nandi are also present here.
The temple is especially crowded during the festivals of Shivaratri, Balachaturdashi, Teej and the month of Shrawan.
