Situated on the border of the Bhaktapur and Kavre districts, the temple of Ashapureshwor Mahadev contains an extremely old idol, although the date of establishment of the temple itself cannot be ascertained.
The deity is believed to have the power to fulfil the desires of his devotees, and, as a result, the temple is quite popular among the residents of the region. While most people visit the temple to seek boons -- such as property, wealth, children, etc. -- quite a few visit it to conduct pujas, and people reciting the rudri mantra is quite a common sight here. Also, fairs are organized here during the festivals of Shivaratri, Balachaturdashi, and the month of Shrawan.
आशापुरेश्वर महादेवस्थान साँगाबाट करिब छ किलोमिटर दक्षिणमा भक्तपुर र काभ्रे जिल्लाको सिमानामा पर्दछ । स्थापनाकाल स्पष्ट नभए पनि यस मन्दिरलाई निकै पुरानो मान्ने गरिन्छ । महादेवका नाममा बेग्लै गुठीको व्यवस्था गरिएको छ । मन्दिरस्थलमा धर्मशाला, पाटी र अन्य देवीदेवताका ससाना मन्दिर तथा मूर्तिहरू पनि छन् । आशापुरेश्वर महादेवले मनोकांक्षा पूरा गर्दछन् भन्ने जनविश्वास छ । सम्पत्ति, ऐश्वर्य र सन्तानको चाहना पूरा गर्नसमेत यिनको पूजाआजा गर्ने गरिन्छ । आपूmले चाहेको कुरा पाउन यहाँ रुद्रीपाठसहित अन्यान्य पूजाआजा गर्न श्रद्धालुहरूको भीड लाग्ने गर्दछ । साउन महिना, बालाचतुर्दशी र शिवरात्रिका अवसरमा आशापुरेश्वर क्षेत्रमा भक्तहरूको बडी चहलपहल हुने गर्दछ ।
